History of the Somerville Community House Inc

The State Government in 2000 invited applications from Neighbourhood Houses to apply for Department of Human Services funding. Somerville Community House applied for the Neighbourhood House Coordinated funding and was successful. The Mornington Peninsula Shire also supports the Somerville Community House, as well as the other 12 Neighbourhood Houses situated on the Mornington Peninsula. This funding is greatly appreciated and enables us to continue to promote social engagement bringing people together, provide a variety of activities, support other important services and be a 'safe place' for community members to meet.
The refurbished Annie Sage Community Centre includes three community meeting spaces and a kitchen. The new centre houses the Shire's maternal and child health team in two Child and Family Health consulting rooms, providing services to about 40 families weekly as well as holding first time parent groups and monthly immunisation sessions.
The formation of the Somerville Community House Inc. is a great achievement - and we pride ourselves on offering a range of activities and courses to people of all ages in the community.
Heartfelt Thanks to our Volunteers
The Somerville Community House wouldn't be the same without their dedicated team of volunteers.
From The Committee of Management to Group Leaders, those who help in the office, the kitchen and in the grounds.
Everyone plays an important part in making the House such a warm and friendly place to visit.
Thank you!
